Dr. Jodi Crandall

Professor Jodi Crandall will be helping us understand how best to integrate language and content in content-based instruction in a second language.
Crandall is a Professor in the Department of Education at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), and she is Director of the PhD program in Language, Literacy & Culture. Crandall teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in content-based language learning, second language literacy, language teacher education, and first and second language writing.
Before moving to UMBC, she spent fourteen years at the Center for Applied Linguistics as the Vice President and Director of International and
Corporate Education; her responsibilities included serving as the Director
of the Language and Orientation Resource Center, Director of the National
Clearinghouse on Adult ESL Literacy (NCLE), and Director of the Arthur
Andersen & Co. English Language Project. Crandall received her Ph.D. and M.S. in Sociolinguistics from Georgetown University, her M.A. in American Literature from University of Maryland, College Park, and her B.A. in English and Spanish from Ohio University.
