(Side note: we chose this kind of skit because we felt that the ìlunchroomî example was a bit overused and clichÈ. We tried to think of another type of voluntary segregation that people would definitely be familiar with.)

 Introduction (Sara): We found in our class that many people have been confronted with what we call ìVoluntary Segregationî at CMU. Voluntary Segregation is when students seem to stay within their ethnic and racial groups. This skit is set in a lecture hall before class starts, and it portrays voluntary segregation.

 Brendan: Where were you guys last night?

John: We were looking for you. We were going to a party.

Ayesha: Oh, we were watching a movie over at Lindsayís house.

Brendan: Thatís too bad. The party was pretty good. You shoulda been there.

Sara: Oh, well, we didnít really want to go out.

John: Oh, all right.

Ayesha: We should all meet up next weekend.

Brendan: Yeah, definitely.

[John looks at his watch]

John: Oh, we should sit downÖclass is about to start. See you guys.

All Others: Bye John.

[John sits on Asian side, others sit on White side]

Hiro: Why are you always chilling with those White people?

John: Oh, I donít knowÖtheyíre all right.
