The information on this website is based on research by Barbara Johnstone, Professor of Linguistics and Rhetoric at Carnegie Mellon University, and Scott F. Kiesling, Associate Professor of Linguistics at the University of Pittsburgh.
 

Johnstone and Kiesling are sociolinguists who are studying the speech of the Pittsburgh area. The site was designed by students at Carnegie Mellon University. It was updated and expanded in 2008 by Mark A. Thompson. The site was funded in part by the U.S. National Science Foundation, Award BCS-0417684.
