About Us
The Oakland Review has been Carnegie Mellon's literary-arts journal since 1974. Over the years the journal has included work from Carnegie Mellon faculty as well as students from colleges all over the nation, but we now publish only the work of CMU undergraduates. The Oakland Review is run entirely by undergraduate students, and the current issue is free to members of the campus community. Some back issues are available for sale.
We accept submissions of fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, playwriting, screenwriting, and artwork. Prizes are awarded each year to outstanding works of art and writing.
The Oakland Review has been recognized nationally by the Associated Writing Programs, placing as a finalist in their Undergraduate Journal competition.
The Oakland Review is funded in part by the CMU Student Activities Fee. The opinions expressed in or by The Oakland Review are not necesarily the opinions of Carnegie Mellon University.
