Advanced Poetry Workshop students gather in the Carnegie Mellon bookstore after “The Hat Reading,” to help celebrate National Poetry Month on campus.

Please contact us if you have any questions or would like more information
about our program. We recommend that if you seriously are considering
applying to Carnegie Mellon in writing, that you arrange to visit us, sit in
on classes, and meet some current students in the program. Please contact
the creative writing program director to schedule a meeting as part of your
campus visit or to ask any questions about the program If you decide to
apply to Carnegie Mellon, it is recommended that you send a creative writing
portfolio of ten to fifteen pages to:

Director, Creative Writing Program
English department
Carnegie Mellon University
5000 Forbes Ave.
Pittsburgh, PA 15213

Many of our students come to us through the Bachelor of Humanities and Arts (BHA) Program, an interdisciplinary program between the Humanities College and the College of Fine Arts. Potential applicants who have an interest in another art form in addition to creative writing should look into applying to the BHA Program.

For general information on applying to Carnegie Mellon and to arrange campus visits, go to Admissions Office site.
